The Phenomenal Learning Put into Practice course delves into the innovative approach of Finnish education. The Finnish national curriculum introduces phenomenal, multidisciplinary learning. It means that instead of individual subject areas focusing on the themes of phenomena, the different disciplines are combined, and thus it can be examined wider and from different perspectives. The common objective for phenomenal learning is to support the holistic development of children. Students need to find ways to contribute and to become active members of the society. School in Finland is seen as a community and learners as active builders of knowledge. The aim of education is to create the conditions for lifelong learning, which is an integral part of building a good life. Our goal is to equip you with practical strategies for implementing phenomenal learning in your own educational contexts, drawing inspiration from Finnish pedagogical approaches such as the double flip method, environmental education, gamified mathematics, and coding. Through lectures, group work, peer learning, and a visit to a Finnish school, you will witness firsthand how phenomenal learning is applied in real classrooms, empowering you to promote collaboration and transformative learning experiences in your schools. Target group are the school management, teachers, special education teachers and all other non-teaching experts and staff working in school education, adult education and VET. The course covers a wide range of topics that schools need to consider and tackle when introducing future education in their school:

• Understand Finnish multidisciplinary education principles
• Learn practical teaching strategies from Finnish methods
• Develop facilitation and presentation skills
• Explore creating engaging learning environments
• Discover the Finnish Flip and gamified math
• Create and present teaching projects
• Reflect on teaching approaches
• Gain insights into Finnish education for personal application

The course methodology aspires creating an output. Working individually or in groups on a concrete product to be used in your own school. Participants are given time to develop these outputs and the trainers coach and support them throughout the week, if necessary even long after courses have finished as a follow up.

Earn a certificate

The course participants will get a Certificate of Active Attendance.

The competences acquired will be validated by the course organisers on the Europass mobility.
